CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Leavine Family Racing announced Tuesday that 2017 Brickyard 400 winner Kasey Kahne pilot the team's No. 95 Chevrolet next year, replacing Michael McDowell.
It was announced in August that Kahne would not return to Hendrick Motorsports despite after this season. The 2004 rookie of the year has six wins in five-plus seasons with Hendrick, with a career-best fourth-place finish in the 2012 standings.
LFR has not announced the crew chief of the No. 95 team for next season, but did confirm they'll continue their technical alliance with Richard Childress Racing. Hendrick announced that Xfinity Series standout William Byron will drive the No. 24 next season, joining seven-time champion Jimmie Johnson, Chase Elliott, and Alex Bowman in 2018.
"I want to thank Leavine Family Racing for this opportunity and will work as hard as possible to help them continue improving," said Kahne. "I am ready for this challenge and look forward to making a fresh start. Bob and everyone at Leavine Family Racing put a lot into their program and I'm excited to become a part of it."
Sponsorship for the No. 95 team has not been announced by LFR.
