A little over one month after announcing primary sponsor OneMain would leave the NASCAR Xfinity Series, JR Motorsports announced Wednesday that the company has signed a multi-year extension to continue its sponsorship of driver Elliott Sadler and the No. 1 team.
According to JRM General Manager Kelley Earnhardt Miller, OneMain will have primary status on Sadler's car for 20 races in 2017.
"We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Elliott Sadler and JR Motorsports," said OneMain Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Bob Hurzeler. "After further evaluation of the program, we felt this relationship was a perfect fit for our company. Elliott has been an outstanding ambassador for OneMain and we look forward to our continued success with Elliott and JRM, on and off the track."
Sadler has been affiliated with the consumer finance company since returning to the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2011. The Emporia, Virginia native currently leads the series standings and is qualified for the inaugural Xfinity Series Chase after winning at Talladega in April.
"This is a dream come true for me," said Sadler. "OneMain is a great partner and we're fortunate to have this stability moving forward to compete for race wins and championships for years to come. I'm as energized as I've ever been."
In 22 starts this season, Sadler has a series-leading 19 top-10 finishes and seven top fives. He has 11 victories in 318 career Xfinity Series starts. Sadler has earned 15 victories across NASCAR's top three series since making his NXS debut in 1995.
JRM will field three full-time NXS entries next season, with Sadler joining Justin Allgaier and rookie William Byron. The team also plans to field a fourth car on a part-time basis.
