Today the Performance Racing Network (PRN) announced, in conjunction with Touchdown Radio, their plans to air the national radio broadcast for the inaugural "Pilot Flying J Battle at Bristol". This unique event is tapped to be college football's highest attended game ever, featuring a border battle between the Virginia Tech Hokies and the University of Tennessee Volunteers on September 10, 2016, at the famed Bristol Motor Speedway.
The "Pilot Flying J Battle at Bristol" broadcast will mark PRN's first foray into college football. The Speedway Motorsports, Inc. (SMI) owned network has been the exclusive voice of SMI owned speedways for 38 years, covering NASCAR SPRINT Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series action.
"We've been honored to host thousands of Tennessee and Virginia Tech fans over the years, and have also enjoyed having many of their coaches and players join us for the great racing at Bristol Motor Speedway," said Marcus Smith, CEO, Speedway Motorsports, Inc. "Now, we can unite these fans with their other passion - college football - in what will be college football's most unique setting."
PRN will partner with former Heisman Trophy winner and CEO of Touchdown Radio, Gino Torretta, and Taylor Zarzour, co-host of The First Team on SiriusXM College Sports Nation, as co-anchors for the broadcast.
"The 'Pilot Flying J Battle at Bristol' is shaping up to be one of the biggest games in college football history," said Torretta. "I am looking forward to being a part of this special event and bringing the action to fans nationwide."
Rounding out the broadcast are PRN's own O'Reilly Auto Parts pit reporters Jim Noble and Brett McMillan, who will serve as sideline reporters for the broadcast, giving fans the same in-depth coverage they have come to expect from the duo on pit road.
"We are really looking forward to shaking things up a bit in 2016," said Doug Rice, president of PRN. "Jim and Brett are two of the best live action sports reporters in the business and I expect great things from them on the sidelines at Bristol."
The broadcast will come less than a month after PRN brings fans the always thrilling NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race from Bristol Motor Speedway on August 20, 2016. For more information on the "Pilot Flying J Battle at Bristol" visit BristolMotorSpeedway.com/BattleatBristol.
