Venturini to host new podcast 'Racing Home' with Wendy Venturini featuring a behind-the-scenes look at the families and friends behind NASCAR's biggest stars
Venturini to become first female to co-anchor NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Broadcast during Sylvania 300 from New Hampshire Motor Speedway this September
The Performance Racing Network (PRN) announced today the launch of "Racing Home" with Wendy Venturini and her expanded role with the network for 2014. The new web series that will debut January 30 on GoPRN.com and iTunes will feature behind-the-scenes interviews focusing on the NASCAR family and its members.
The five minute podcast will feature veteran NASCAR reporter Wendy Venturini interviewing members of the NASCAR family including:
- Samantha Busch, wife of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) driver Kyle Busch
- Delana Harvick, wife of NSCS driver Kevin Harvick
- Greg Newman, father of NSCS driver Ryan Newman
- Melanie Self, women's and children's director at Motor Racing Outreach
Venturini knows a thing or two about being a part of the NASCAR family and has been around the sport since she was young, following her father as he competed in the NSCS and the ARCA Re/Max Series. In addition to her NASCAR family roots, Venturini also boasts a long and impressive resume covering the sport for DirecTV, SPEED, FoxSports1 and PRN.
"Wendy has a unique perspective on NASCAR and the racing community and 'Racing Home' will give her a chance to share that perspective with the PRN audience," said Doug Rice, president of PRN.
Venturini's years covering the sport have allowed her to make friends and cultivate relationships with members of the NASCAR community that will allow her to bring the fans inside access and insight into the family aspect of the sport.
"Growing up in the garage, I understand what it takes to live on the road traveling, track to track my entire life," said Venturini. "Now as a working mom traveling the circuit with my family, I'm able to relate to so many roles in our industry. It takes a village to run these events in each city. It's my passion to tell these stories and PRN recognizes the value in it."
In addition to hosting "Racing Home" Venturini will expand her role with PRN even further in 2014 by co-anchoring the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) broadcasts for PRN from Atlanta Motor Speedway, Bristol Motor Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway and New Hampshire Motor Speedway and will also become the first female to co-anchor a NSCS broadcast when she does so during the Sylvania 300 from New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sept 21, 2014.
"Wendy has done such a wonderful job as co-anchor it was only a natural progression for her to move up to the Sprint Cup Series booth," said Rice.
"Racing Home" will be available for download Thursdays at Noon EST on GoPRN.com and iTunes. Fans can follow "Racing Home" all season long on Twitter using the hashtag #RacingHome and liking @PRNLive and @WendyVenturini.
