It’s becoming a familiar and pleasant refrain…fans are coming back to the track.
Yes, life is slowly returning to pre-Pandemic normal. And, boy are folks happy to be out of the house.
We saw a great crowd Memorial Day weekend at the Coke 600 and an enthusiastic one in Sonoma last week as, what has been, one of the most restrictive states, is beginning to open up.
Just having a chance to talk with people walking the Sonoma grounds on Sunday, you could tell how happy they were to be participating in something outside again, around other people.
For those of us who have been fortunate enough to have been able to go to the tracks over the last year, let me tell you, we couldn’t be happier to have folks back in the stands. There is an energy that you get walking around before the race, during driver introductions and once the race gets going that is hard to put into words. But, when it’s not there; you miss it.
So, welcome back! If the sport’s insiders have learned one thing over the last year, it’s never to take for-granted the people in the stands.
