I can’t imagine a more satisfying end to a season than with the three champions we have in NASCAR’s National Series.
While their number of championships, and times competing for championships may vary, all share the common background of having to overcome adversity to become a series titlist.
Now that Joey Logano is a three-time champ, it’s easy to forget that Joe Gibbs once gave up on Sliced Bread. The thought was that he would go back to the Xfinity Series until Brad Keselowski convinced Roger Penske to take a flyer on Logano. I’d say that’s worked pretty well.
Justin Allgaier’s multiple Xfinity championship frustrations covers up the fact that he did get an opportunity in Cup that didn’t really work out…and, not necessarily because of reasons related to the driver. But, his value to the Xfinity Series and respect in the garage area was pretty apparent with the stream of drivers who came by to congratulate him on his first title.
Finally, Ty Majeski is a driver who bounced around for a few years, and was without a ride a few years ago when he connected with Thor Sports. Now, he has rewarded their faith with a title.
