We’ve spent a lot of time focusing on Ford’s lack of a win, and with good reason, we’re one-third of the way into the year and they have a goose egg in the column that matters most.
But, are things really as bleak as they seem? In some corners, maybe. In others, I don’t think so.
Another foot in Atlanta and Ryan Blaney has a win. A pair of Ford drivers, Michael McDowell and Brad Keselowski were 1-2 coming to the checkers at Talladega before an extra block did them in. And, the latest, Chris Buescher coming up an inch short at Kansas.
Think how different the narrative would be If those three results changed in the blue oval’s favor. That would be three wins for Ford; we’d be speculating about Daniel Suarez’s future and Denny Hamlin would be considered the clear title favorite over William Byron.
Racing has never been referred to as “a game of inches”, but this year it has been. And, Ford is the one who keeps coming up short.
