New pavement, new layout, new faces in Victory Lane. Or maybe not.
Isn't it interesting that despite all the changes to Texas Motor Speedway, the guys who ended up wearing cowboy hats at the end of the weekend, were just adding to their collections.
Erik Jones scored his first Xfinity Series win at Texas, and had never finished outside of the top-5 in four starts. Despite all the changes to the track; he led the most laps and won again.
Jimmie Johnson had to start the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race at the back because of a spin in qualifying. Couple that with the start he's had to this season, and it was surely an indication he had lost his Texas swagger. Think again pardner.
Johnson now has a cowboy hat for every day of the week.
Sometimes when a track is repaved, the guys who had a handle on it, lose it. But, apparently with Texas, once its' in your blood, you're always a Texan.
