I think it may be easy to overlook just how much Brad Keselowski has accomplished since he bought into Roush Fenway Racing.
It was an operation that was flailing and in danger of fading into obscurity. The once vibrant and, sometimes, dominant team had gone four years without a win. And, in the same timeframe, had scored only 12 top-5s. 12 in four years!
Folks kind of chuckled when Keselowski went in and started by repainting the walls, but it was a symbol of change. He also brought in a lot of new faces. New faces bringing fresh ideas into an operation that was stuck in doing things the way they always had.
Perhaps quicker than many imagined, RFK got both cars in the playoffs and, now, into Victory Lane. As mind-blowing as some of those numbers are, here’s the one that really gets me: Keselowski’s win at Darlington was the first in the Cup Series for the 6 car in 13 years; wen David Ragan won at Daytona.
